De rebus memorandis. Frankfurt, Christian Egenolff, 1566. - Trostspiegel in Glück und Unglück. Frankfurt, Christian Egenolff, 1572. 2 works in one gothic folio volume, sow skin blindstamped on ais, large rectangular panel drawn with multiple fillets and scrolls, one of which decorated with small medallion portraits, centre compartments decorated with a scroll repeated with effigies of the Evangelists, remains of metal clasps, spine ribbed, titles in ink (Germanic binding of the time). COLLECTION OF 2 BEAUTIFUL GERMAN EDITIONS OF PETRARQUE, in the translation of Stephan Wachter, known as Vigilius: this version of the Trostspiegel, a translation of the De remediis utriusque fortunae, had first appeared in 1539 in Augsburg. The De rebus memorandis has an attractive title printed in red and black with a large initial P for gifts and is decorated with five half-page woodcuts by Hans Burgkmair. The illustration of the Trostspiegel, one of the most remarkable of the German Renaissance, contains about 260 woodcuts attributed to Hans Weiditz, which were first used in the Augsburg edition published in 1532 by Steyner. Browning, as is common in 16th century German editions. Upper part of the title of the first work reinforced. Soiling and rubbing to the binding, one corner broken, missing headpieces and 3 spines cracked.
