Seven books of stories. Paris, From the Printing Office of Michel de Vascosan, 1554. In-folio, brown calf, fillet and cold roulette, gilt fleuron in the centre and corners, spine decorated with a small repeated gilt iron, red edges (Binding of the period). Mortimer, n°175. First edition of Jacques Amyot's translation of the last seven books (XI to XVII) of the Universal History of Diodorus of Sicily, composed in Greek in the 1st century BC. Nice printing by Vascosan. Handwritten note in the margin of 4 leaves at the end of the volume. Some spotting and marginal wetness, last endpaper missing. Binding badly restored.
