Beautiful 16th century edition from Lyon, printed on two columns for Hugues de La Porte whose typographical mark appears on the title (representation of Samson carrying away the gates of Gaza).
The first word of the title (Biblia) is xylographed in a Renaissance frame.
The illustration consists of 98 woodcuts, column-width, 86 of which are taken from Holbein's 1538 suite of Icones historiarum veteris Testamenti published in Lyon by Trechsel.
Washed copy. Leaves h4 and h5 inverted. Stain due to washing on p. 583 (with restored tear not missing) and on 2 other leaves.
