Rare Latin edition of the Large Catechism of Martin Luther (1483-1546), originally published in German in 1529, year of the second Diet of Speyer. It was quickly put on the Index. Printed in Latin characters, the title placed in an architectural woodcut frame. The work is the counterpart of the Small Catechism. These manuals are among the great texts of the Eisleben reformer and were intended for the instruction of the faithful by the family teacher (the Small Catechism) and by pastors and school teachers (the Large Catechism).
