In-8, stiff vellum, title on the spine, red speckled edges (17th century Italian binding). First edition in Italian of this historical work on the different dynasties that ruled the kingdom of Naples, by Michele Riccio (1445-1515), Neapolitan historian, ambassador and jurisconsult. The translation is by the Roman historian Francesco Sansovino (1521-1583), under the pseudonym of Giovanni Tatti. Early manuscript bookplate on the title: Ad usum R.P. Philippi a Pogio-Mirteto Ministri Prolis. Wet stamp on the title, undetermined. Copy trimmed a little short, the headlines cut. Staining to the last 12 leaves, some foxing, title soiled.
