AN INTERESTING COPY, WITH SOME HANDWRITTEN NOTES LEFT BY A SEVENTEENTH OR EIGHTEENTH CENTURY READER WHO WAS CRITICAL OF PLATON'S WORK. This judgment will be illustrated by these two notes, taken at random, on the subject of the Republic: One will draw almost no idea from this book, all is of a prolixity which tires (p. 531) and The two or three following pages on the definition of justice seemed to me full of words, and left me no idea, I found more in two lines of the Gospel and in the speech on the mountain (p. 533). Leaves MM1 and MM6 of the table duplicated. Marginal staining at the head and corner of several leaves, staining on the edge of some leaves. Endpapers missing. Binding very worn, spine covered with cloth.
