PRAGMATICA SANCTIO.

Toulouse, 1528 [at the end] : Eustache Mareschal and Jean Damoysel. 2 parts in one volume in-4, fawn calf, double framed with a gilt fillet, small fleuron at the corners, cold design in the centre, spine decorated, edges speckled with red (Binding around 1900). Baudrier, t. XI, p. 370. RARE GOTHIC EDITION PRINTED IN TOULOUSE of the Pragmatic Sanction of Bourges, the famous ordinance of July 7, 1438, by which Charles VII affirmed his royal power and became the guardian of the Gallican Church, which thus declared its autonomy from the Pope. Printed in small Gothic type on two columns, it is decorated with a woodcut crucifixion in the text and a woodcut on the front of the last leaf. The title, printed in red and black, is set in an architectural frame. The second part, entitled Concordata, is in separate pagination and has a separate title page; its colophon is dated 13 March 1528 and mentions Jacques Colomiez as the printer. Manuscript bookplate of the 16th century on the general title and at the end of the volume. From the library of L. Froissart (ex-libris). Hinges rubbed, split at one end.
