First edition of this philological work written by the Italian humanist Rhodiginus (1469-1525) and dedicated to the eminent bibliophile Jean Grolier. Very fine title printed in red with the publisher's typographical mark, repeated in black on the verso of the last leaf. A fine copy, with good margins, in an English binding in the 18th century style. Some old marginal annotations. Engraved armorial bookplate of Baron Charles Jacob Stuart. From the Furstenberg-Beaumesnil library (2013, n°152). 2 marginal wormholes throughout the volume, one of them reaching the text in the last few leaves, slight light wetness at the head of some leaves. Small traces of rubbing to the binding, a restored tear on the first cover.
