CLEOPHILUS (Francesco Ottavio, dit).

Libellus de cetu poetarum ab Ascencio mendis plusculis tersus. Paris, Antoine Bonnemère for Denis Roce, s.d. [c. 1503]. In-4, parchment spine, balsa boards, the former stained blue and the latter light green (Modern binding). Renouard, Bade, t. II, p. 345, n°4. VERY RARE POST-INCUNABLE EDITION of this poem by Cleophilus, an Italian historian and poet who died in 1490, with comments by the humanist Josse Bade. It includes a preface by Josse Bade dated 7 October 1503. Nice typographical mark of Denis Roce on the title (cf. Renouard, n°1005). A copy rubricated in yellow, containing some handwritten notes of the time. Charming unsigned binding but characteristic of the artist Marie-Françoise Dumur. Light staining on the first two leaves.
