Saint Bartholomew. Carved lime wood, coloured. (Around 1600). Height 21.4 cm. This figure shows the saint as an écorché, holding his skin in his left hand, which winds around his red-framed body like a drapery. - Occasionally with small wormholes, with damage to the flayed skin. Provenance: Julius Böhler Kunsthandel, Munich, with the label on the underside of the base; private property, southern Germany. Taxation: Differentially taxed (VAT: Margin Scheme).
