A South Indian sapphire ring, India, 18th century, the solid gold band engraved to shoulders with scale design and makara heads, the shank with a finely stippled design, the sapphire set in finely worked kundan technique with lobed edges and triangular prongs in each corner securing the stone in the raised square setting each side with linear design, weight 9.8 grams For similar rings see O.
