With Le Grand Pouvoir du Chninkel, Rosinski and Van Hamme enter the pages of (À Suivre), the great magazine of the 1980s that makes Casterman, until then the youth publisher of Tintin and Alix, make a decisive change of direction. The project was to create large-format stories where the breath of great literature could be felt. In response, Van Hamme and Rosinski proposed nothing less than a disenchanted reinterpretation of the Bible mixed with Tolkien's paganism, in which the Chninkels embodied, in a way, according to the scriptwriter, the Jewish people.
