Maximilian LUCE (1858-1941) Her Majesty, the Famine Queen of Sicily, 1898 Lithograph on laid paper Van Gelder watermarked of a child balancing on a globe holding a pendulum, signed, titled and dedicated "to Malatesta and the condemned of Ancona", in the plate, printed and edited by Jean Grave, 140 rue Mouffetard in Paris, for the anarchist review "Les Temps Nouveaux" 1898. Edition of 250 copies. stain, lower margin, slightly faded, otherwise good condition 56,7 x 45,6 cm Note : Always short of money, Jean Grave asked his artist friends to support him by creating lithographs that he sold to replenish the coffers of his printing house and his anarchist magazine.
