Salvador Dalí, with the collaboration of the art critics Lluis Montanya and Sebastia Gasch, drew up this manifesto, which violently attacked bourgeois "noucentrist" Catalan culture, a prelude to the famous conference of 22 March 1930 at the Ateneu in Barcelona, where Dalí set out, in a provocative tone that caused a scandal, the theoretical principles of his surrealist aesthetic, in opposition to intellectual conformism.
