Important and rare maternity statue known as a hàrberé, linked to the cult of Màar, representing a woman in a seated position nursing her child, her lips adorned with a labret, her face powerful, a headdress in a striated cap, her ankles decorated with bracelets, the child sucking one breast and grasping the other with her hand. Particularly vigorous and expressive style. Terracotta with earthy patina. Lobi, Burkina Faso. H. 39 cm.
