Rare Pendule squelette à équation du Temps.

Ring-shaped dial with Roman numerals for the hours. The minutes in Arabic numerals. The seconds indicated by lines. The fourth hand marked with a radiating sun indicating the equation of time: difference between the mean solar time and the true time which is determined by the interval separating the passage of the sun at the meridian from one day to the next. Wheel of equation engraved with the months of the year visible at noon. Hour and half-hour chimes. Balance wheel with "à Gril" model compensation. Dial signed de Valois & Johnstone. The set rests on four feet with wide gilt bronze struts and a moulded white marble terrace. Around 1800, nice quality. Height: 52 cm - Length: 27 cm - Depth: 17 cm. Provenance : Belgian private collection. Acquired in Paris in December 2008, Horlogerie Chayette & Cheval sale, lot 209.
