Nkishi Songye fetish, Democratic Republic of Congo. Wood with brown to black glossy patina, vegetable fibers, raw leather. (Accidents). First third of the 20th century. Height : 25 cm Fetish representing a female effigy with a full bust, detailed on the back with shoulder blades treated in two supple and elegant lines. The arms are bent on either side of the abdomen, the hands joining the umbilical region. The ovoid head has delicate features, almond-shaped eyes separated by an arrowhead nose, and a shaped mouth. The hairstyle is neatly done, with large godrons at the back of the skull, hollowed out by a cavity intended to receive an antelope horn. Beautiful and old patina of use of this object with a protective magico-religious function.
