Album, 1843-1848; in-4 oblong, green chagrin, ornate smooth spine, boards richly decorated with gilded garlands and interlacing surrounding the name in gilded letters of the owner Emilie de Botella, white moiré silk lining in a wide green chagrin frame decorated with gilded scrolls, white moire endpapers, gilded edges (period binding). Beautiful album amicorum of a young Spanish woman by the name of Emilia de Botella, belonging to the Hispanic colony of Paris in the mid-nineteenth century. Her entourage included diplomats, musicians and writers. Handwritten tribute texts, in French or Spanish, are mixed with drawings, watercolors and lithographs.Among these texts are autograph pieces addressed to Emilia de Botella by several well-known personalities, most of them Spanish or South American: An autograph poem signed by the South American poet José Heriberto Garcia de Quevedo, born in Coro (Venezuela) in 1819, died in Paris in 1871: "Lo pasado no ecsiste"...
