Persian manuscript: Bustan of Shaykh Muslih Al-Din Sa'di Shirazi (1184-1291) Iran, Herat, Safavid art, dated:946H./1538 The appliquéd binding, Iran, Qajar art, papier-mâché and lacquered 20 folios, made of calligraphic paper in nast'aliqin black ink, 11 lines per page, inscribed in two columns, interrupted by cartouches inscribed with titles in white ink, on a background illuminated in gold and in polychrome, the frontispiece finely illuminated in gold, inscribed with the first title in ornamental kufic script, colophon at the end of the text, the name of the calligrapher, scratched (Mirzâ....) and a date: 946H, the margins speckled in gold. 24 x 16 cm.
