BIBLIOPHILIC CURIOSITY [MAHEY] PETRONE. The Matron of Ephesus. Literal translation by John Redni, preceded by the translation into verse by John de La Fontaine, and followed by the Latin text. Paris, Glomeau, 1911, in-4 bound full beige morocco, spine ribbed brown, plates decorated with solid fillets and gilt dotted frame with 4 medallions of brown morocco mosaic with gilt rosette decoration. Marbled paper counter plates edged with a morocco return with gilt fillets and spandrels, gilt head, cover and back preserved, under nesting, a lightly rubbed jaw. Binding signed René Kieffer. Copy of a pass over Japan, unjustified, whose illustrations have been replaced by 4 original and unpublished watercolours by the Nantes painter James Mahey, thus forming a unique copy.
