Paris, Ferroud, 1909, in-4 bound full orange morocco, spine with 4 jumped ribs and plates decorated with a mosaic rose seedling framed by a large foliated border limited by double gilt fillets. Counter plates with art deco painted decoration with comb and mirror motifs, bordered by a morocco return with double gilt fillets and full gilt fillets and spandrels, painted silk endpapers with olive branches and rose crowns motifs, double marbled paper endpapers. Gilded head, cover and back preserved, under interlocking. Binding signed René Kieffer. Illustrated with 43 colour compositions by Raphaël Collin woodcut by Ernest Florian, 5 of them off-text. Edition at 497 numbered copies, one of the 65 on large imperial Japan (n°96) containing two states of the illustrations, one before the letter with remarks, and with the warrant of subscription of the book in fine.
