Alexis-Nicolas PÉRIGNON (Nancy 1726 - Paris 1782) Presumed view of the ruins of the castle of RothelinAquarelle , grey wash on black pencil strokes. Monogrammed on the lower right. Annotated on the back: "This drawing bears on the back / View of the old castle of Rotilin, on the south side, in the marquisate of Bade, two leagues and a half from Basel, year 1776" (Slightly insolated, a few fre ckles). 16 x 22.5 cm The castle of Rothelin belonged successively to the Hochberg-Sausenberg and then to the Margraves of Baden-Durlach .
