Beautiful document written the day after a poignant session during the Rennes trial, on which the painter represented Captain Dreyfus in opposition to the military and statesman then Minister of War, Auguste Mercier, the first public accuser of the captain, and coordinator of the antidreyfusards at the Rennes trial.
