A great traveller, his stays in the East are attested in Egypt and Palestine. His career in Belgium was prestigious and characterized by his eclecticism: portraits, historical compositions, orientalist scenes. His works are kept in the Museum of Brussels, the Museum of Antwerp (Philippe II of Spain, Fantasia in Egypt) and the Museum of Prague. He received awards and distinctions at exhibitions in Prague (1877), Brussels (1878-1879), Amsterdam (1883), Melbourne (1888), Chicago (1893).
