DEGAS Edgar (1834-1917)
Signed autograph card addressed to
Albert BARTHOLOMÉ S.d. [circa 1890], 2 pages in-16 in ink. Collector's mark on verso.
Degas envies the progress of the work of his sculptor friend Albert Bartholomé (1848-1928).
"My dear friend, we will go to dinner with you on
Monday, which is better than Wednesday. We will be there early, to see Christ.
Blessed Sculptor! And I too would like to...
but I haven't made enough horses yet.
The women have to wait in their basins. Regards Degas Sunday morning. "
We can date this letter from around 1889-1890, at the time when Bartholomew was working on his Christ the Redeemer.
