TABLE "FANTASIA MAROCAINE" OF CATHERINE JAUBERT GAZEL -
is an artist-painter who for about fifteen years has been particularly fond of orientalist themes that she treats on stucco (acrylic on plaster stained with pigments on wood). Following her numerous studies on the horse and her frequent stays in Morocco, fantasia has become one of her favourite subjects.
NAME OF THE WORK : " MOROCCAN FANTASIA ".
The fantasia, also called "gunpowder game", practiced throughout North Africa, is a charge of horsemen armed with rifles and beautifully harnessed mounts.
It is a beautiful equestrian art in which the riders throw their beautifully harnessed mounts belly down, twirling their rifles over their heads before the "baroud", which consists of firing in concert in the air or on the ground.
