Square kobako with retractable corners, resting on four legs, decorated in takamaki-e and hiramaki-e in gold, silver and Kirigane lacquer from Kinkaku-ji in Kyoto, the reverse side of the cover featuring Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, shogun at the origin of its construction, the sides decorated with Kyoto views on a hiram background.
