Patent of honour on parchment partly printed, vignette of the Republic by B. Roger, awarding a rifle of honour to citizen Buffet, grenadier in the 109th ½ line brigade, to the case: "of Kremsmünster on 29th frimaire year IX (20th October 1800) where this soldier, assisted by one of his comrades, arrived first on two cannon pieces which were seized", given in Paris on 27th germinal year IX of the French Republic, signed by Bonaparte, Alexandre Berthier and Hugues Maret; frame with golden rods; 34 x 41 cm. (Wear, moisture stains and small tears). Consulate period. Quite good condition. Barnabé BUFFET, born in the department of the Ardennes, grenadier at the 109th ½ line brigade; in the Kremsmünster affair, on 29 February, year IX, this soldier rushed on two gun barrels and seized them, helped by one of his comrades; this brilliant action earned him, on 27 February, year IX, a rifle of honour; corporal, then sergeant at the 21st line regiment, he obtained his retirement in 1808. Died September 14, 1836.
