Light cavalry officer's sword model 1822, once belonging to Jules Pierre César Gudin, chased and gilded brass guard, cap return with the number: "J G" in Gothic letters, silver filigree horn fuse; round-backed blade and damask counter-sharp, engraved with etching on half a decoration of trophies and gold leaves, signed on the heel: "P. G. Knecht fils" and "À Solingen"; white polished steel sheath with two strap hinges, monogrammed on the front: "J G" and stamped on the back: "Manceaux à Paris"; length 101 cm. Epoque fin Restauration, Louis-Philippe. Very good condition. Captain Jules Pierre César GUDIN, Baron, born on 2 December 1808 in Deux-Ponts (Grand Duchy of Bavaria), † in 1847. Student of the special military school of Saint-Cyr, 23 November 1825; second lieutenant at the Royal Cavalry School, 1 October 1827; then at the 10th Hunters Regiment, 12 October 1829; at the Chartres Hussars (1st Regiment), 18 August 1830; second lieutenant, 21 October 1831; First Lieutenant, May 17, 1836; Captain Warrant Officer Major, February 14, 1840; Captain First Class, July 4, 1845; Captain Commanding, January 27, 1846; appointed King's Ordering Officer, March 29, 1846; struck off duty, April 7, 1846; resigned, May 28, 1847.
