WILLY VAN DER MEEREN (Belgium, 1923-2002) for Tubax, Belgium. Pair of chairs, 1950s. Chromed metal and yellow upholstery. Measurements: 70 x 60 x 53 cm; 41 cm (seat height). This pair of Belgian chairs features elements characteristic of midcentury forms with Nordic influence. For example, the backrest has a curvature for ergonomic back support. The metal frame and flowing forms make it a pair of exquisitely crafted and highly sophisticated chairs. Willy Van der Meeren studied architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and began his career working for a furniture company. He founded his own company in the 1950s, Tubax, which produced furniture for schools, offices and hospitals. He is most famous for his "301" chair, a metal folding chair that was mass-produced and used in many public buildings in Belgium. He was a member of the design group De Coene in Kortrijk and taught industrial design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. His work has been exhibited in numerous museums and design exhibitions, including MoMA in New York.

RODOLFO BONETTO (Milan, 1929-1991) for DRIADE. Pair of armchairs. Plastic material. With Driade label. Slight marks of use on the base. Measurements: 70 x 66 x 70 cm. Pair of armchairs of marked geometric design, based on rounded volumes, whose clean lines are enhanced by the neatness of the reddish-colored plastic material. It consists of a unitary and fluid volume in which the legs form the sides of the furniture and, in a continuous way, form the armrests, seats and backs of the same. The self-taught designer Rodolfo Bonetto began his career working for the Olivetti company in the late 1950s, where he contributed to the design of several products, including typewriters, household appliances, calculators and furniture such as the Boomerang armchair. Later he also worked for Kodak, Braun and Yamaha. His successful career led him to be awarded up to eight times with the Compasso d'Oro, the highest Italian design award. He is best known for his creations in the fields of technology and transportation (he worked for the Italian public transport company ATM), as well as for bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles. He has twice been president of ADI (Associazione Disegno Industriale) and president of ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design).

Christophe Pillet's Sunset chair expresses the perfect mastery of sensuality and refinement characteristic of Pillet. It features a swivel design, back and seat in slightly curved wood and satin steel support. Christophe Pillet graduated from the Decorative Arts School in Nice in 1985. He received his Master's degree from the Domus Academy in Milan in 1986. He worked with Martine Bedin in Milan from 1986 to 1988. Collaborated with Philippe Starck in Paris from 1988 to 1993. Since 1993, he has run his own design studio. He was elected designer of the year in 1994. During his career, he has published numerous articles in the most important magazines in the world. Clarity of expression, the search for simplicity and elegance are the fundamental principles that govern Christophe Pillet's work. Pillet is internationally recognized for the broad spectrum and quality of his creations. His signature is invariably associated with the best furniture firms and also with recognized luxury brands such as: Trussardi, Lacoste, Moët et Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Lancome, Shiseido, l'Oréal, JC Jitrois, Catherine Malandrino, Lancel, Le Tannneur International... The scope and variety of his projects share a common attitude, regardless of scale. Their interpretations are recognized as much for their precision as for their rigor and refinement. If there is a "Pillet style", it is his ability to crystallize, within a project, the emotion of a proposition.
