A crest helmet for NCOs of the Royal Saxon Gendarmerie, 1878 - 1918 Black lacquered leather skull (craquelures, partially abraded) with nickel silver fittings. Screw-mounted crest with scalloped mounting (one round-head rivet missing on the back) with coiled front end, on which a ventilation hole in the middle of rosettes on each side. Flat chinscales with leather underlay on geometric rosettes, the protective bars fixed with pins. An appliquéd star emblem in three levels at the front, a green-lacquered star (non-ferrous metal), followed by the Royal Saxon coat of arms in silver-plated nickel-silver. The black leather liner in fine condition. Signs of age and wear. Also, the medal "150 Jahre Polizeidirektion Dresden 1853 - 2003 Sonderausstellung" with the certificate and illustration of this helmet for enlisted men, which was also worn at the Royal Saxon Police Headquarters in Dresden. Im Deckel der Kassette ist ein aufwendiges Replikat einer Schnitzarbeit aus Bein mit kunstvoll durchbrochenen, teilweise bemalten Schmuckplatten eingelassen. Dieses heute in der Erzabtei St. Peter in Salzburg verwahrte Kunstwerk schmückt den Einband eines Evangeliars aus der Salierzeit aus dem 12. Jahrhundert und bietet damit die passende Hülle für das Echternacher Evangelistar (Verlagswerbung). With 41 gold-decorated miniatures and 13 sumptuous pages of initial decoration. 2 vols. Hand-bound original half leather with metal clasp and nailed metal band over wooden covers and OLeinen, together in OEichenholzkassette with metal edge protectors and multi-part nailed on, partly colored and richly pierced replica of a Salian jewelry plate. "The sumptuously decorated illuminated manuscripts from the Echternach scriptorium are world-famous. One of these treasures is today one of the well-guarded jewels of the manuscript department of the Bibliothèque Royale de Belgique in Brussels: the Echternach Evangelistar, a magnificent manuscript from the time of the Salian emperors ...
