A pair of German arm defences from a suit of armour, assembled from 16th century components Large pauldrons of five articulated lames with six fullers. High flanges along the top on both sides, the rear panels in openwork. A row of lining holes around the edge. Open rerebraces, large couters with triple fluting, edged with finely turned and roped flanges. The closed vambraces opening on a hinge. One interior has been lost, the surviving piece decorated with lozenge-shaped perforations. Individual pieces are slightly deformed, the leather lining and rivets damaged in places. The surfaces with a dark age patina and filmed with oil, in need of cleaning. Length of each circa 70 cm. Provenance: Formerly in the Collection from the Royal House of Hanover at Schloss Marienburg. Condition: II - III

Dabei auch Briefe von einer Reise nach Indochina Kambodscha. - Einmalige Korrespondenz des Diplomatenehepaares mit vielen Hintergrundinformationen über das Leben als Diplomat in Asien. - Im Anschluss war Adolf von Windecker als Vertreter für das Auswärtige Amt tätig, u.a. 1941 beim Reichskommissar in Riga, 1944 organisierte er in Konstanz den Austausch von Kriegsgefangenen. - Dabei: 12 kl. OPhotographien u. 4 Zeitungsausschnitte. Singapore - Collection of approx. 52 letters and postcards mainly from Katja Windecker, wife of the German Consul General Dr. Adolf Windecker in Singapore. Mostly with envelopes, mostly stamps removed, some censored. - Contains private mail mainly from Windecker's wife to her mother-in-law I. von Büchler in Berlin mostly from Singapore as well as from various hotels and from the ship 'Gneisenau' on corresponding stationery from the outward journey to Singapore and return journey at the outbreak of World War II. Also letters from a trip to Indochina Cambodia. - Unique correspondence of the diplomatic couple with much background information about life as diplomats in Asia. - Afterwards Adolf von Windecker worked as a representative for the Foreign Office, e.g. in 1941 for the Reich Commissioner in Riga, in 1944 he organised the exchange of prisoners of war in Konstanz. - In add.: 9 small orig. photographs and 4 newspaper cuttings.
