An Indonesian South Sulawesi kris with gold grip, probably circa 1900 Strongly undulating iron blade with rubbed pamor markings. The mendhak somewhat loose and embellished with wire, holding an elaborate, eight carat gold grip in the shape of a bird, finely engraved with tendril motifs. Wrangka and scabbard in gilt silver, decorated en suite with natural and geometric shapes. A small indentation on the chape, which is slightly abraded in places, otherwise in immaculate condition. Includes the protective cover. Length 48 cm. Condition: I -
