Six splendidly decorated, gilded Hellenistic bronze fittings, 3rd - 1st century B.C. Six richly decorated sheet bronze mountings with gilding on the front, five of them with glass inlays, possibly from a parade harness. 1) Long-oval bronze mount surrounding a large, domed, violet glass cabochon. The horizontal rim decorated with a "running dog". Above it the sloping lower part of the setting, decorated with a wavy tendril with leaves in wave peaks and valleys. On both sides of the frame there are triple stepped frames that are bent inwards and fix the glass cabochon. The cabochon is covered by a plate on the back. Length 14.7 cm. 2) Four phalerae with a central glass cabochon fixed by a rivet. The horizontal rim again decorated with a "running dog", the sloping walls of the setting with a lesbian kymation. Two of the phalerae with a diameter of approx. 7.5 cm, the other two with a diameter of approx. 7 cm. The glass cabochons covered from behind with a sheet of metal through which the bent mandrel of the central rivet protrudes in the centre for fastening. Three glass cabochons flat and monochrome (honey-coloured), one clearly domed and with a white banding over a dark background, imitating a banded agate. 3) A truncated, cone-shaped, large fitting with flanged rims, the wall convexly inwardly recessed, an oval hole in the top centre. On the outside two decorative zones separated by a hatched band: on the outside a wavy tendril with leaves and fruits in wave peaks and valleys, on the inside a scale pattern. Diameter 22 cm. Height 8 cm. Provenance: South German private collection, taken over from the collection of the grandfather. Condition: II
