XAVIER FEAL (France, 20th century) for INOX INDUSTRIE. Lounge Chair and ottoman, 1970s. Steel and leather. Measurements: 93 x 93 x 96 cm (lounge); 61 x 61 x 40 cm (ottoman). Lounge chair designed by Xavier Feal in the 1970s and produced by Inox Industrie. The armchair, raised on a trumpet-shaped circular base, has a large seat upholstered in brown leather with a very elegant capitonee pattern. The ottoman follows the same characteristics. Xaviel Feal trained at the Boulle School and the Decorative Arts in Paris. He created a range of stainless steel furniture on behalf of the manufacturer Inox Industrie. This short production was marketed from 1969 to 1974 and consisted of seats, tables and coffee tables, lamps, shelving elements and decorative objects such as desk and fireplace accessories and candlesticks. From 1975 onwards, Xavier Féal slowly abandoned the world of furniture to move into industrial design and precision engineering.

The design of the furniture produced between the 1930s and 1980s fits perfectly in today's homes. The shapes, colors and materials of the mid-century furniture create a retro atmosphere bringing a unique and particular taste. The bar cabinet in tender is characterized by the strong geometric volumes and the formal purity of its structure, very much in line with the Italian design of the 80s. This structure stands out thanks to the bambi type stipe legs that support it, which give way to a curved table top on which the main body rests, distributed in two superimposed compartments. On the outside, the main frame is divided into panels, each corresponding to a folding door.

Age-related trace of use. Measurements: 82 x 191 x 75 cm. Peter Hvidt was trained as an architect from the The Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture in Copenhagen in 1940. Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen had a background as a cabinetmaker and also in 1940 trained as an architect from the Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture. Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen were pioneers of mid-century Danish design and in 1944 they founded the Copenhagen-based company Hvidt & Mølgaard, which they ran together until 1975 where both retired. Together they designed over 256 pieces of furniture together during their careers. The duo established a simple and precise aesthetic by designing countless pieces of furniture over the years, many of which became icons of the era. Today, their work is eexhibited at MoMA, the National Gallery of Melbourne and the Copenhagen Design Museum.

Work markedly connected with the Dutch school of Rembrandt of the 17th century, specifically in the style of his best disciple, Isaac de Jourdeville, who, born an orphan, soon became Rembrandt's student in November 1629 and traveled with him to Amsterdam in 1631 There are still documents related to their learning written by their tutors. He returned to Leiden to marry Maria le Febure (1619-1653) in 1636 and moved to Deventer in 1641. He lived in Deventer for only a few years; In 1643 he was back in Amsterdam, where he died young in 1645. His widow Maria married the glassmaker Pieter de Melder in 1648 and his daughter Mariecke later married the painter Frederik de Moucheron. Following the death of Maria le Febure, her second husband declared himself unable to support her first husband's three children, along with her own two children, although she offered to raise Jacob Jouderville until the age of 18. By then De Melder He acted as an art dealer, and the liquidation of his wife's estate shows an interesting list of artists to whom his estate owed money or who owed money to his estate.
