Provenienz: Privatsammlung, Großbritannien. Anmerkung: Die Ufer der Themse waren ein häufiges Motiv des berühmten Karikaturisten Thomas Rowlandson. Ähnliche Werke sind seine Ansicht von Cheyne Walk [Museum of London, A23094] und von Putney Bridge [Morgan Library and Museum, New York, 1954.25]. Das hohe, nadelartige Bauwerk im Hintergrund ist der Wasserturm der York Buildings Waterworks, ein hölzerner Turm, der im 17. Jahrhundert errichtet wurde und bis weit ins 19.
