Karl May (1901-1976), German-Canadian expressionist who studied in Prague and Vienna. His works were shown in the Feme exhibition "Degenerate Art" and later destroyed. After several years in Iran, where he taught at the academy in Tehran, he emigrated to Canada. "Four Geese" from his series of reduced depictions of animals, color chalk on apricot paper (not fixed), signed and dated "may 49" lower right, sheet dimensions 50 x 70 cm
