Karl May (1901-1976), German-Canadian expressionist who studied in Prague and Vienna. His works were shown in the Feme exhibition "Degenerate Art" and later destroyed. After several years in Iran, where he taught at the academy in Tehran, he emigrated to Canada. "Fressender Tiger" from his series of reduced animal depictions, color crayon on paper (not fixed), signed and dated "may 49" lower left, minimal losses at lower margin, slight traces of storage, sheet measures 42 x 61 cm
