Leguat ließ sich als Teil einer kleinen Gruppe französischer protestantischer Flüchtlinge auf der unbewohnten Insel Rodrigues nieder. Nach zwei Jahren flohen sie nach Mauritius, von wo aus sie 1698 nach Europa zurückkehrten. His adventures are noted for theobservationson natural history of the now extinct fauna of Rodrigues. Ref.
