A helmet for enlisted men of the 8th Cuirassier Regiment Steel skull with brass mountings. The crest riveted to the body, the gorgon's head and cuirass with no. 8 on the front, "marmouset" inset at the top with a black hair plume. Turban of black fur (rubbed). A socket for the plume on the side. Chin scales underlaid with brown leather on rosettes with a star in relief. Black leather visor with typical embossed pattern and brass trim. Brown leather sweatband with sewn-on linen lining with drawstring. Signs of wear and age. Size approx. 60 cm. USA lot - more info here Condition: II
