Total weight 1782 g. of shaped square form with side handle resting on four foliate feet, finely engraved and openworked with plant motifs, accompanied by four English cut glass bottles. Sterling silver, fully hallmarked London 1836-1837, silversmiths R & S Garrard & Co and inscribed "GARRARDS - PANTON STREET - LONDON". The founder of the firm was George Wickes who was apprenticed to Samuel Wastell in 1712 and free in 1720. His first mark was entered in 1722. He entered his Panton Street marks in 1735 and it is clear from the surviving Garrards' ledger that this is when he began an independent existence. The firm was known successively as George Wickes, Craig & Wickes, George Wickes, Wickes & Netherton, Parker & Wakelin, Wakelin & Taylor, Wakelin & Garrard and when Robert Garrard took sole control in 1802 it had already been established in Panton Street for sixty-seven years. One single pre-auction bid on a lot
In the absence of additional bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded at the starting price even if the sole bid received is higher (the amount of the pre-auction bid indicates the maximum bid the bidder is willing to place).

Multiple pre-auction bids of the same amount on the same lot
In the absence of additional bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the earlier bidder.
Multiple pre-auction bids of different amounts on the same lot
In the absence of additional bids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the highest bidder. The hammer price is calculated by adding to the amount of the next lowest bid a predetermined increment, as set out in the table below (Table A).
Example: customer A bid € 1200 - customer B bid € 1800. Customer B does not win at the award price of € 1800 but at € 1300. That is, the automatic increase of € 100 laid down in Table A for bids in the 1000-1999 € range is applied to the amount of the next lowest bid.

5. Auction fees
The buyer shall pay Bertolami Fine Art S.r.o. an auction fee as follows:
28% of the hammer price up to and including € 10.000;
26% of that part of the hammer price over € 10.000 and up to and including € 400.000;
24% of that part of the hammer price above € 400.000.
