Master of the Neapolitan School of the 17th Century. Vision of Saint Francis Description The saint of the order, identified by his wounds, is represented in a sleeping position. According to legend, he had a vision in which an angel appeared to him with a violin. This representation of legends can be found in many painters, especially from the 17th century onwards. Famous painting by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino, from around 1623, in which the painter shows the saint in ecstasy at this moment.
