ROBERT LLIMÓS ORIOL (Barcelona, 1943). "Vanitas blau", Barcelona, 1991. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Signed, dated, located and titled on the back. Measurements: 130 x 130 cm; 132 x 132 cm (frame). Llimós became known in 1964, with a joint exhibition with, among others, Arranz Bravo, Bartolozzi and Gerard Sala, with whom he worked as a team until 1969. His work can be found in outstanding collections such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the Espirito Santo Museum of Modern Art in Brazil, the Contemporary Art Collection in Madrid, the Fine Arts Museums of Alava and Seville, the Fondazione Lucio Amelio in Naples, the Salvador Allende International Museum of Resistance in Santiago de Chile, the Peter Stuyvesant Foundation in Amsterdam, the Palau Solleric in Palma de Mallorca and the MACBA in Barcelona, among others. His work, with an expressive and intense stroke, oscillates between figuration and symbolic abstraction, with a strong attraction for the animal world, often the subject of his work, as can be seen in the painting we now present.
