Dos esculturas de bronce y un abrecartas, 1ª mitad del siglo XX Ametrallador arrodillado de bronce patinado marrón, firmado "Asti" y "Metallurgica Bresciana Gia Tempini" en el zócalo, base plana de madera (astillada), dimensiones totales aprox. 22 x 10 x 12 cm. Lanzagranadas de mano de bronce patinado marrón (sin firmar), altura 16,5 cm. Se acompaña de un abrecartas de metal no férreo en rico relieve con hoja de estilo antiguo (algo astillada), empuñadura de águila totalmente esculpida, cruceta ("SPQR") y vaina con símbolo "M" y casco de acero, longitud total 27 cm. Mínimamente dañada en algunas partes, signos de antigüedad. Estado: II

Gropius bezieht Stellung zu einer journalistischen Rezension in der Berliner Tageszeitung "Die Welt" zu einem von ihm entworfenen Haus im Bauhaus-Stil. Gropius hatte 1957 anlässlich der ersten Bauausstellung "Interbau" das "Walter-Gropius-Haus" entworfen, einen 9-stöckigen Wohnkomplex. Von der Fachwelt und in der Presse wurde der Bau überwiegend als konservativ kritisiert, vor allem im Vergleich mit moderneren Entwürfen von Le Corbusier, Broek/Bakema u. a. Enthält einen maschinenschriftlichen Brief an Lisbeth Kroll, die Ehefrau des Pianisten u. Musikkritikers Erwin Kroll, vom 18. August 1957 mit eigenhändiger Unterschrift und gedrucktem Briefkopf. Diese hatte Gropius zuvor per Brief über die kritische Rezeption seines Baus informiert, wofür er sich hier bedankt. In dem zweiten Schreiben, einem zwei Blätter umfassenden Durchschlag eines Briefes vom 21. August 1957, antwortet Gropius dem Journalisten Joachim Besser, mit der ausdrücklichen Erlaubnis, den Brief zu veröffentlichen. Gropius widerlegt dort die Kritik fachkundig und sachlich. - Original-Umschlag vom Brief an Kroll beiliegend, mit größeren Defekten. Der Brief in den Rändern etwas gebräunt. Gut erhalten. Two typewritten letters, one with autograph signature. 18 and 21 August 1957. A total of three folded sheets. - Gropius comments on a journalistic review in the Berlin daily newspaper "Die Welt" of a Bauhaus-style house designed by him. Gropius had designed the "Walter-Gropius-Haus", a 9-storey residential complex, for the first "Interbau" building exhibition in 1957. The building was largely criticised by experts and in the press as conservative, especially in comparison with more modern designs by Le Corbusier, Broek/Bakema and others. Contains a typewritten letter to Lisbeth Kroll, wife of the pianist and music critic Erwin Kroll, dated 18 August 1957 with handwritten signature and printed letterhead. She had previously informed Gropius by letter about the critical reception of his building, for which he expresses his thanks here. In the second letter, a two-sheet carbon copy of a letter dated 21 August 1957, Gropius replies to the journalist Joachim Besser with express permission to publish the letter. Gropius expertly and objectively refutes the criticism. - Enclosed original envelope from the letter to Kroll, with major defects. The letter somewhat browned in the margins. In good condition.
