Un kulah khud persa, siglo XIX Casco con cráneo forjado en una sola pieza, la parte frontal forjada en forma de rostro humano, cuernos curvados y penachos en los laterales, la placa de la coronilla en forma de cabeza humana astada, con punta cuadrada remachada en la parte superior, y una nariguera antideslizante sujeta por un tornillo. MAISON ALPHONSE GIROUX ( act. 1799-1867). Etagère; c. 1860. Bronce cincelado y bruñido con placas de vidrio grabadas. Obra reproducida en C. Payne, Mobiliario de París: el mercado de lujo del siglo XIX, Éditions Monelle Hayot, 2018, p. 77 (ilustrado). Firmado Aph Giroux París. Medidas: 89,5 x 48 x 48 cm. Etagère de bronce dorado y cristal de estilo japonés en su diseño. Los productos japoneses se hicieron cada vez más familiares en París gracias a una gran exposición en el pabellón japonés de la Exposición Universal de 1867 y posteriormente en Viena en 1873. Las firmas parisinas Christofle y Barbedienne fueron los principales exponentes de la nueva moda del Japonismo. Se aplicó principalmente a muebles de metal con escasa o nula ebanistería. En las artes decorativas occidentales se mezclaban motivos japoneses y chinos en un mismo objeto, lo que a menudo puede hacer difícil, si no imposible, definir con precisión si el objeto debe calificarse de chinoiserie o de japonismo. Una revista neoyorquina llamada Art Amateur fue una de las primeras en utilizar la palabra "japanesque" como respuesta adecuada al armario de Giroux. Dos diseñadores y primeros defensores del estilo oriental en París fueron Giroux y Duvinage. El primero vendió su tienda a Ferdinand Duvinage y su socio Harinckouk en 1867. Giroux adaptó principalmente el arte chino; su publicación Meubles et fantaisies, hacia 1840, muestra mesas en este nuevo lenguaje de moda y recuerda a los muebles de papel maché de la misma época. Blattmaße je ca. 15 x 19 cm. Meist mit Beschriftungen in englischer und lateinischer Sprache. - Die Blätter scheinen einem professionellen ornithologischen Zeichenalbum zu entstammen. Enthalten sind sowohl europäische als auch außereuropäische Arten, es überwiegen dabei Enten- und Hühnervögel. Dargestellt sind unter anderem ein Kernbeißer, ein Halsbandfrankolin, Löffelenten, Persische Sandhühner und Büschelenten. Die Vögel werden meist in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung gezeigt, einige Blätter bilden zudem auch das Gelege ab. Einige der Zeichnungen scheinen inspiriert von dem erstmals zwischen 1851-1857 erschienen Werk "A History of British Birds" von Rev. F.O. Morris. - Verso vereinzelt mit Spuren früherer Montierung. Einige auf Trägerpapier montiert. In den Rändern teils unscheinbar gebräunt und vereinzelt gering braunfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltene und vielfältige Sammlung. Ornithology - Collection of 39 original drawings with depictions of birds. Probably England, mid 19th century. Pen and watercolour on chamois-coloured paper. - Mostly with captions in English and Latin. - The sheets appear to come from a professional ornithological drawing album. They contain both European and non-European species, with a predominance of duck and partridge birds. Among others, a hawfinch, a collared francolin, spoonbills, Persian sandgrouse and tufted ducks are depicted. The birds are mostly shown in their natural environment, with some sheets also depicting the clutch of eggs. Some of the drawings appear to have been inspired by the work "A History of British Birds" by Rev. F.O. Morris, first published between 1851-1857. Morris. - Partly with traces of earlier mounting on verso. Some mounted on backing paper. Some inconspicuous browning in margins and occasional minor brownstaining. Overall a very well-preserved and varied collection.
