Baule Mask, Ivory Coast c.1970-80 Measurements: 43 cm high The masks correspond to several types of dances: the Gba gba, the Bonu Amuen, the Mblo and the Goli. They never represent ancestors and are always used by men. The Gba was used at women's funerals during the harvest season. It celebrates beauty and age, they have very refined characteristics.
