Planter signed Pierre-Ferdinand Duvinage and Alphonse Giroux, 1877 -1882

Gilt bronze jardinière with ivory, brass and exotic wood marquetry, bronze signed Alphonse Giroux and marquetry signed Pierre-Ferdinand Duvinage (1877 - 1882). It has small losses and a base that needs to be fixed. Measurements: 37,5 x 34,5 x 30 cm. Pierre-Ferdinand Duvinage, a master cabinetmaker renowned for the quality of his marquetry, joined forces with Alphonse Giroux in 1867 under the prestigious Maison Giroux. In 1877, Duvinage's widow obtained a patent to protect her husband's marquetry style and work, characterised by Japanese-inspired motifs. In 1878, these first objects were exhibited at the Universal Exhibition and production continued until 1882 when the widow de Douvinage ceased her activity. During this period from 1877 to 1882, the pieces were signed "F.D. Bté." as a registered trademark. . . Bronze and marquetry
