With a vinyl record by Zuzan titled "Girls Can Jack Too." Provenance: From the collection of Mark Kamins, a DJ in the New York club scene, 2017; Private Minnesota Collection. Lot Essay: Keith Haring, born on May 4, 1958, in Reading, Pennsylvania, emerged as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. With an innate talent for drawing, Haring's artistic journey began in the streets of New York City, where he used subway stations as his canvas, creating bold, dynamic images that captured the vibrant energy of the city. His iconic style, characterized by simple, yet powerful lines and vibrant colors, quickly garnered attention and became synonymous with the downtown art scene of the 1980s. Haring's work was more than just visually striking; it was deeply rooted in social and political activism. Inspired by his own experiences and the world around him, he used his art as a platform to address pressing issues such as AIDS awareness, apartheid, and the crack cocaine epidemic. His famous "Radiant Baby" and "Crack is Wack" murals became symbols of hope and resistance, transcending cultural boundaries and sparking important conversations about societal injustices. Mark Kamins was a prolific club DJ starting in 1977 with gigs at the Mudd Room and Danceteria. He worked in A&R for Island Records where he signed the bands The Waitresses and Was (Not Was). 编号 609 - Thomas Kinkade (American, 1958-2012). Giclee print with hand-painted embellishments titled "The Lion King," depicting the moment when Simba's baby is presented to the gathered animals. From the Disney Dreams Collection. Signed and numbered 186/200 E.P. along the lower right. With a certificate of authenticity. Said Kinkade of this work: "As I painted my homage to this amazing story, I could not help but be moved by the intricate interplay between all of the magnificent creatures under Simba's domain. I imagined a lush, colorful, and bountiful African plain rightfully reestablished to its splendor after Simba vanquished Scar and his comedic, yet treacherous, hyenas each now forlorn in their punishment. The multitudes of animals have been summoned to pay tribute to Simba's new baby and their future regent as they wait under a spectacular sky illuminated in great anticipation. The world is as it should be...in harmony and perfectly balanced. Simba's heir is exalted by Rafiki and proudly symbolizes what awaits when destiny is embraced, challenges faced, and one summons the courage to stand in the spotlight of providence. I trust that this image will both remind you of this fantastic story and its amazing characters and, most importantly, move you to face the future irrespective of history's impasses knowing that the watchful and approving eye of the King is content as you embrace your place in the circle of life." 编号 613 - Thomas Kinkade (American, 1958-2012). Giclee print with hand-painted embellishments titled "The Jungle Book," depicting the characters from the movie in a jungle landscape. From the Disney Dreams Collection. Signed and numbered 186/200 E.P. along the lower right. With a certificate of authenticity. Said Kinkade of this work: "There is little doubt that The Jungle Book remains one of the most delightful and warmly received of all of the Disney animated films. This re-telling of the classic Rudyard Kipling tale is the last film that Walt Disney was involved with both in terms of production and writing before his death in 1966. "Let's have fun with it," Walt was often quoted as saying to his animation staff about their efforts on the film. And that is exactly what the talent pool of The Walt Disney Studios did with the story of Mowgli, the Indian jungle boy raised by wolves, befriended by bears and panthers and stalked by pythons and tigers. But beyond Walt's simple desire, The Jungle Book also set a high benchmark in relation to animation, musical score and storytelling to which all of the Disney cartoon classics aspire. These original intents of Disney inspired this adaptation by Thomas Kinkade Studios. The narrative panoramic style of the collection is fully realized on this canvas with each of the film's many enchanting scenes captured to delight fans of all ages. The chaos of King Louie, the joy of the baby elephant walk and the waterside romance at the "man village" were all integrated into the painting's completion. And at the center of it all is Mowgli the man cub, the evil tiger Shere Khan, the wise panther Bagheera and Baloo, the lovable if lazy Poppa Bear. Set in a verdant jungle and highlighted by flowers, waterfalls and palms, one can almost smell the canopied gardenias, sense the rushing of the water and hear the chatter of the monkeys in the trees. Indeed, the magic of Walt Disney as interpreted by Thomas Kinkade Studios has never been more likely to transport the collector to the experience of the cinematic moment. Let us all take that journey, "have fun with it" and "look for the bare necessities of life!"" Unframed; height: 18 in x width: 27 in. Framed; height: 29 1/2 in x width: 38 1/2 in x depth: 3 1/4 in.

编号 620 - Joan Miro (Spanish (Catalan), 1893-1983). Aquatint and etching on Guarro paper depicting an abstract composition in bright colors, plate 5 from the "Espriu" Suite, 1974. Pencil signed along the lower right; numbered 20/50 along the lower left. Provenance: Private Connecticut Collection, 1991; Private Minnesota Collection. Lot Essay: Joan Miro's early works were influenced by Catalan folk art and Fauvism, but it was his encounter with Surrealism in Paris during the 1920s that profoundly shaped his artistic vision. Embracing the Surrealist ethos of unlocking the subconscious mind, Miro developed a unique visual language characterized by biomorphic forms, dreamlike symbols, and vibrant colors. His paintings, such as "The Farm" (1921-1922) and "The Tilled Field" (1923-1924), evoke a sense of poetic spontaneity and primal energy. Throughout his career, Miro continued to innovate, exploring various mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. His experimentation with automatic drawing and spontaneous mark-making liberated his artistic process, allowing for a fluid and intuitive approach to creation. Miro's iconic works, such as "The Harlequin's Carnival" (1924-1925) and "The Birth of the World" (1925), exemplify his playful yet profound exploration of form and color. In addition to his artistic achievements, Miro was a committed advocate for social and political causes, particularly during the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War and World War II. His art often served as a vehicle for political commentary, expressing solidarity with the oppressed and advocating for peace and freedom. Miro's enduring legacy as a pioneer of Surrealism and a champion of artistic experimentation continues to inspire generations of artists, as his boundless imagination and creative spirit remain as relevant today as ever before. Through his daring exploration of the subconscious and his fearless embrace of spontaneity, Miro transcended artistic conventions, leaving an indelible mark on the trajectory of modern art.
