Ɏ HIDEKAZU: A FINE IVORY NETSUKE OF FUKUROKUJU Ɏ HIDEKAZU: A FINE IVORY NETSUKE OF FUKUROKUJU By Hidekazu, signed Hidekazu Japan, 19 th century A finely carved ivory netsuke depicting the lucky god Fukurokuju with a large forehead, dressed in a voluminous robe and with a characteristic cowl draped over his head. He is shown rising one hand and holding a fan with the other, while a fruit with large leaves rests on his left shoulder. His robe is neatly incised with clouds and floral motifs. The back with small himotoshi and the signature HIDEKAZU, the underside further with an incised signature within a red lacquer plaque. HEIGHT 5 cm Condition: Good condition with minor wear and a tiny chip to one sleeve. Provenance: Collection Gabor Orszagh, Budapest, Hungary. Trade Certificate: In accordance with new EU regulations that went into effect in January 2022, we have applied for a certificate to sell this item within the EU. We expect the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology to issue the certificate in 4-8 weeks. The item can only be shipped / handed over once the certificate has been issued. This item contains ivory, rhinoceros horn, tortoise shell, and/or some types of tropical wood and is subject to CITES when exporting outside the EU. It is typically not possible to export such items outside of the EU, including to the UK. Therefore, after this item has the necessary trade certificate, it can only be shipped within the EU or picked up in our gallery in person.
