Three Neolithic jade amulets. Hongshan culture, ca. 4700 - 2900 B.C. a) Stylized cicada. L 5.5 cm, W 3 cm. White jade, mineralogically discolored in places. Convex body with flat base and funnel-shaped holes on the back. Carved in blunt lines, pronounced head. b) Stylized eagle with wings folded. L 4.5 cm, W 4.2 cm. White jade. Convex body with a flat base and funnel-shaped holes on the back. Bluntly carved wings and head. c) Small stylized turtle. L 4 cm, W 3 cm. Jade in shades of brown. Convex body with a flat base and funnel-shaped holes on the back. Blunt carved shell, head and feet. Intact. Slight mineralogical changes and discoloration. Provenance: Ex collection R.K., North Rhine-Westphalia, before 1980.
